Zero emission shipping – how do we get there?
In April 2018, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted an ambitious greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction strategy for shipping. Decarbonizing the shipping industry can be disruptive in terms of cost, introduction of new technology, crew competence requirements and operational patterns. As we are heading towards 2050, the industry will be characterized by an increasing diversity in fuel choices, with a wider range of alternative and carbon-neutral fuels. Different solutions may be appropriate for short-sea and deep-sea segments, while energy efficiency will be key for all ship segments.
In this webinar, an overview of the fuel and technology options will be given, and the role of various stakeholders in reaching IMO’s ambitions will be discussed.
