Commodity, Covid-19 and decarbonization Impact of Covid-19 on trade logistics
Trade logistics are the key enabler to the international trade in goods as are related
operations, such as border controls and insurance. In the current environment we have
seen a significant upheaval in international transportation.
We will learn more about the impact of the global pandemic on trade logistics and thus
our businesses today and tomorrow as ‘crisis’ migrates to recovery.
We will also receive news on the new decarbonization regulations adopted at MEPC 76,
as well as an overview of what the EU and USA are doing on decarbonization of shipping.
Speakers
Jakub Walenkiewicz
Principal Market Analyst who will cover the Market in & post Covid: Jakub Walenkiewicz
is Principal Market Analyst in DNV GL and a regular speaker at maritime industry events. He
has more than 19 years of research experience and writes articles, develops statistics and
assesses influencing factors between shipping, international trade and energy markets. His
analysis of commercially sensitive data is used to evaluate supply and demand trends and
synergies between the maritime and offshore industries. Mr. Walenkiewicz holds a master’s
degree in Naval Architecture.
Eirik Nyhus
Director Environment who will update us on the MEPC 76 results and implications for
business: As Director Environment Eirik Nyhus has key responsibilities on maritime
environmental regulations and related international policy developments. Extensive external
stakeholder engagement responsibilities, focusing on governmental authorities and key DNV
customers. Currently supporting the Norwegian government in its work on air emissions as
an adviser to the Norwegian IMO MEPC delegations, and he is the DNV member in
International Association of Class Societies Expert Group on Environmental issues.
Jeroen van der Veer
Area Business Development Manager: Covering the Area BeNeLux, Switzerland and France
Jeroen acts as the liaison between clients and DNV. Supporting clients with the transformation
journey that lies ahead on digitalization and decarbonization. Before taking this role he was
managing DNV’s Mariitime operations in BeNeLux. With a background as Naval Architect and
before being part of Management in 2008, his career track took him through different roles
from a yard project manager to survey work on all vessel types through the entire lifecycle.
